London Fashion Week

LFW is a very popular week, which is held in London in February each year. These weeks are held in fashion obsessed capitals including London, New York and Milan which show the most popular designers, right down to ones who are just starting out. It would be amazing to be able to attend London's, because obviously it's the closest one near me, but my dream is to be one of the fashion photographers there, capturing the catwalk and celebrities in awe admiring the new collections for the following year's SS collections.
I was browsing on the website (www.londonfashionweek.co.uk) as I've always had a love for fashion and studied textiles for 7 years, it's always exciting to see new upcoming designers in the pipeline. Something called 'Estethica' caught my eye so I decided to research it more. Basically, what it is, is a chance for new designers who like to use fair trade and ethical manufacturing for their designs. Whilst studying textiles at A level we learnt that although using fair trade and organic materials are better for the environment and people, it is more expensive and take longer to make. This starts right down from growing the cotton in the fields of the hot climates of India and several other places, it is a harder and slower process without using pesticides although they are life threatening to the workers there.
But along with trying to be as organic and economical as they can, designers also use recycled fabrics to make their unique pieces.

The photo above is by designer Mei-Hui Liu from her SS 12  collection. Her label is called Victim Fashion Street and she is a Taiwan-born designer but now lives in London. She says her signature designs are 'I suppose it's what you'd call decadent romance cut with a very sharp edge and dose of haphazard embellishments' as she used quite a few 'grungey' looks topped off with union jack style prints and the royal colours. She also recycles all her materials and thinks of herself as very ethical.


It's nice to know that there are designers out there who actually care about the world and fair trading. Just because you use top of the range materials doesn't mean that your pieces are the best. I'm aware of the pros and cons of this but things are slowly changing :)

Reading Week

Last Tuesday (Valentines day) I got the coach home because it was reading week and basically, it's cheaper to go home than to stay here and have to buy food etc, plus my mum does all my washing ;) mwahaha.
Being that it was Valentines day and I'm 'young, free and single', I decided to go to the pub with Matt and some of the boys and drown my sorrows! This was the night in pictures:

 I ended up the most drunken one and pretty much passed out in Matt's bed hahaha. Had such a hangover the next day but that was my only drinking day the whole week I was home - didn't even go out Saturday! Time to detox and seriously lose some weight!

Wednesday I caught up with Soph which was nice :) we went for a drive to Portland Bill with Abby and then decided to go to the park at night haha! You'd definitely be able to tell we're 18....

Then she decided to try and fit in a baby swing but got stuck haha! There were loads more photos from this day but Abby took them on her camera and she hasn't uploaded them yet the bellend!

Thursday I went to Boscombe with Abby and Stacey to get hair extensions! It's such a weird place and I felt so awkward being English there!! Everyone stared at us and it was really scary haha but we went to this foreign shop which sold CHEETOS!! Love of my life.

After we got Stacey's extensions I noticed there was a reptile shop and I'm a sucker for pet shops cos I'm obsessed with tortoises and there were so many of them!! I want the one that's in the water cos he was lively and look like a bit of a rebel. It was the cutest thing ever seeing him try to get out of the water bowl hahaha! Then there were loads of snakes etc - this one is lush cos of the colouring! I named him Dorito cos he reminds me of the colours of the chili heatwave flavour hahaha.

On the way back to the car we walked past this really cool looking tattoo parlour and Stacey already has 3 tattoos so was feeling spontaneous and we went in! Obviously I was peer pressuring her into it because I love tattoos but can't get any atm cos i'm poor and kinda AFRAID OF NEEDLES but i'm hoping to man up soon!

The tattoo parlour had no spaces available so we set back to Weymouth and were talking about tattoos the whole way and Stacey decided she's gona get her tattoo back home! :)

To turn around we drove down this huge hill to here which is called 'Honeycombe Beach' HOW CUTE!! Must go there when it's hot,

After umming and ahh-ing about whether to get a tattoo both of them got one in the end!! How cute and girlie are these haha :)

After spending all day with them, they were going out to Nando's for dinner that night but I couldn't go because I'd already arranged to see one of my best friends, Kim, who was cooking for me :D

Apologies for the horrendous quality. She cooked me Spaghetti Carbonara and it was beaaaaut!! Was so lovely to see her because she's one of those friends who you don't speak to constantly and see much but you know they're always there for you and when you do catch up it's lush cos there's always so much gossip!! :) 

Cherry came round afterwards and we just chilled and watch celeb juice! Lovely day :)

On Friday I just chilled mainly in the day time and then went to Kirsty's that night for some more girlie time! I don't know why I say girlie night anymore because every night really is for me haha. Sarah was there too and we decided to make a 'rainbow cake'!! Here's our masterpiece:

A bit of an e number nightmare haha and it didn't taste great but it was hilarious making!

I didn't really see much of anyone else that week but it was really nice to spend some quality time with my family as everyone was home! :) 

It was the best to be reunited with my 2 dogs and I made Bosun sleep in my room with me at night cos my family seem to think it's haunted haha! I miss them so much when I'm away and everyone thinks that Sash is going deaf which is sosososososos sad cos I've had her since i was 6!! She's 12 now but I reckon she's got plenty more years in here! Anyway changing subject.......

After making a cake with Kirsty on Friday, Keiley got jealous and wanted to make cupcakes haha so we had a 'cake off' and Morgan and her friend Ellie had to taste them and decide who's were better...

I won (shock) but Keiley seems to think she did although i got both votes so I dno how that works haha.

Keiley's working in Tenerife this summer but I can't visit her like I did in 2011 cos I'll be away myself! I think it's gona be weird for my parents and Morgan to have just them 3 all summer but they're kinda used to having us away now. The novelty soon wears off when we're all home and annoying each other haha.

I came back to Uni yesterday (wednesday) and don't have it again til Monday so I'm just bumming about but hopefully will have a nice messy Notts night out soooonnnnnnn!! There's rumours that Joey Essex is here so might have to go see his reem face!!

today it dawned on me that this valentines day is gona be my first one single in 3 years!! i was with the same boy for valentines day 2009, 2010 and 2011 so it's gona be kinda weird not to have one this year! i'm not a massive celebrator of the day but it was cute to be able to share this cheesy holiday with someone!
now i'm in a predicament because valentines day seems to be a huge night out for fellow singletons but tuesday's the day i'm supposed to be going back home for reading week so i can't decide whether to stay in notts for a mad night out (depending on who would actually come because everyone's on reading week so they might be home) or go home that day and go out in weymouth. ahh i can't decide! but let's face it.. there's more talent in notts than weymouth ha! but the downside is that i'd have to get an 8hour coach the next day if i stay here and there's a huge chance i'll be hungover!! never good.

i'm SUCH a messy person it's unreal but surprisingly i hate going to bed when my room's a tip and as you can see here, this is the current state it's in :(

soooo messy but i really cba to tidy it!! maybe i'll do it tomorrow after mine and zoy's adventurous photography day.. or maybe not.

tonight whilst at the boys' flat i was just thinking how lucky i am to be surrounded by such lovely people - home and away (pun not intended haha) i've met some amazing people here who i hope i'll keep contact with for life, especially my roomies!

Wide awake at 3am.. SHOCK

i'm so bored with doing nothing with my day and not being tired at night! definitely need a hobby or job that isn't just for 5 hours once or twice a week!

anyway, i've had to make some huuuge kinda life changing decisions this week so next week in my reading week i will sort everything out which will all hopefully run smoothly! i don't wana say what i'm doing and what's happening atm cos i don't wana jinx it but it's all very excitingggggggg :D

as i'm up i'm gona make a huge wishlist of what i want for this summer (along with my perfect beach bod)

i've fallen completely in love with these half sheer skirts and think they make you look amazing! with the right figure obviously this can be worn as a casual summer day skirt or tied in with something more dressy for an evening ensemble! it's classy and elegant with a hint of mystery! definitely gotta get one.

2.
some more levi 501s! such beautiful summer shorts which like the skirt, can be worn in the day time casually or in the evening whilst buddied with a pair of killer heels/wedges and top! i currently have these in the classic light blue but i want some 'funky' looking ones too - the studded ones are beaut but they're so pricey! i have a levi's shop here but i'm gona have a hunt on ebay cos im a student! ;)

i need some ray bans in my life! these are new to the collection and im kind of in love with them! they're different to your average wayfarers and aviators (although theyre pretty amazing too!) so if anyone would like to buy them for me i'll love you forever..

now i know you might turn your nose up at the thought of purple lipstick, but believe me, it's beautiful on! ever since i saw gabriella from made in chelsea wear it i just thought it was amazing and need this to be in my make up bag! i only feel like red lipstick suits me really cos with pink i either look like i eaten a crayon or i look like im wearing a shovel worth of make up - neither of the looks im going for!! maybe orange? very lady gaga-esque..

plain and simple but these tops go really well with just casual day outfits topped off with converse or anything! it'd be so nice in the summer to just wear this and some high waisters to the beach without being so body conscious! let's shift these poundssssss

leather converse! converse have to be the most comfortable shoes in the entire galaxy!! these would be perfect for those hot summer days strolling around Virginia ;)

this beeeaut 'pork pie' hat! i really am a hat person and they finish off a look well - also ivy from 90210 always wears them and her style is insane! id kill to be a surfer girl.

some decent fake tan!!! although, my roommate's friend came to stay recently and she told me a 'trick of the trade' in the beauty industry for some decent instant tan is primark's.... and it is amazing! although i highly recommend using a tan mit as it's a bitch to wash off your hands haha

be able to wear something like this on the beach!!! eat wise drop a size :) obviously not in this colour though cos it would completely wash me out and make me look like a corpse! you'd definitely have to have beyonce's skin tone to be able to pull this colour off

i feel as if im about 10 writing this but rucksacks have really caught my eye lately and this is a bargain from river island for only £30! ok it's not real leather but it looks it and it's just so cuuuute!

this beauty!! i've already asked for it for my 19th birthday in may haha definitely keen for this! it's a limited edition mini diana camera. it's film so i'd be cautious of what i take photos of and want lots of variation of when id get it developed. it would be amazing to take to america with me because you never know how the photos will turn out! this is my number 1 want atm!

so the chances of me getting these are so unlikely ha but i thought i'd put them up here anyway. these are from Christian Louboutin's new collection for this S/S 12 and theyre just amazingly beautiful. theyre intern crested velvet loafers which are selling for around £545 so they'll probably be in my life wishlist for a very long time until i'm rich and famous ;) the thing i love about these as well is that if i was going to spend half a grand on a pair of shoes, i'd want people to know they're pricey. so with these they have CL's iconic logo on the top of the loafers as you cannot see the sole of the shoes - as louboutins are most commonly recognised on high heels to have the red under sole.

so that's it for now cos im actually tired and looking at all these things i want is depressing :( haha!
