Home town glory

Don't really remember a lot from Saturday night which isn't exactly a good thing but I'm young so that's what I'm putting it down to! Plus it was one of my friend's 21st birthday so he had a garden karaoke party which was so fun! I drank waaay too much before I even left for town then Sammie a.k.a THE BAD INFLUENCE always manages to make me have too many shots haha. It's never a dull night with her! :) It was my first night out back home too so was lovely to see everyone especially Laura, Cherry, Sammie and ofc Jade!
Before we left the garden party with Josh and our new Irish friend Tony! Heyyyyy drink spillages on my dress. CLASSY!

With Sammie and Jade as we just got into town! Love a good Yates' danceee!

Dear God I was so drunk.

Words cannot describe how hungover I was the next day but from everything I've heard from people, it was a good night haha and I didn't spend too much money which is always a bonus ;)  Roll on St. Patricks Day! Let's meet some Irishhhhh! xxxxx

Why the hell not?!

I was thinking that I wanted to use this blog to remember the best memories in digital form so I won't forget them (though that is hard when I'm with such lush people) so I kinda treated it like a diary, but then I wanted to keep it professional and express my passion for photography and all things pretty. I have now decided I'm going to do a bit of both cos it's only gona be for my own benefit really as I doubt anyone cares about my sorry life or reads my blog! Except for you Zoyburg - my number 1 fan woo :) and probably my only reader haha love you! So 'haters gon' hate' lolololol, I'm gona write any old stuff on here!!
This is my life in pictures basically :)

I haven't been going out an awful lot lately because it's go time for the fitness front so last week I went to Oceana with a few of the guys and girls from Manor and it was a really good night! Beforehand we ended up going for round 2 of 'prinks' at a place called Up and Down Under where they sold drinks and shots for £1 - brilliant but horrendous at the same time. Whenever I've been drinking I always seem to think drinking shot after shot of tequila is a brilliant idea..... until the next day :( hungover is an understatement!!
The only photo of the night -

I wasn't out again until the following Monday, where being friends with people who work and promote it, went to Forum! Monday madness at Forum? Always ends up really fun and really drunk :)
Prinks were at ours so obviously the standard game of ring of fire happened and then Adrian popped round and did some magic! Anyone who knows me knows I love magic so I was in my element and was loving life when he did a card trick with me! SO FUN!! Consider my mind blown hahaha it's insane how he does it!

My mind literally being blown by Adrian's insane magic!!

with my baby Zeebeeeee :) excuse the 10stone arm and insane eyebrow!

one of the funniest photos I've ever seen!!!! Henry is pretty tall but Josh is quite short and I'm leaning over a bit so I'm normally taller but I can't stop cracking up at how abnormally large Henry looks hahahaha!!! Best photo of the night by far!!

Whilst trying to recover from this disguting hangover, I went out the next night cos Sazzle came back from going home for the weekend and went to Oceana as a big girl night yaaay :)
Here's a couple highlights of the night (shock I had tequila again... :()

Feeling all girlie with my lipstick mark!

GREMLIN! Hahaha ewwwwww. I would show more but they're umm.. disgusting :) I'm definitely not feeling the middle parting after seeing this monstrosity so back to side I go!!! URGENTLY.

This photo is my favourite out of my whole Uni collection, I think you'll see why...

Could Mike look ANY CUTER?! I think not. Hahahaha what a babaaaaaa :)))

Today's been eventful but I'm not spilling just yetttt...... watch this space xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
P.s. a huuuuuuge Happy 19th Birthday to one of my best friends Alice Carter!!!

Summer Loving

I've been thinking about my last year and I can't believe how amazing 2011 was! I really hope that this year lives up to expectations and beats last, if that's even possible! So much went on; I went to London for a weekend, saw Russell Howard & Jason Manford, saw Yelle & Katy Perry, I turned 18, I had my sixth form ball, I went to my first festival, went on holiday with 2 best friends, started Uni and met loads of amazing new people and saw my number one band I've always wanted to see - Red Hot Chili Peppers. Words cannot describe :)))) INSANE!

I hope 2012 is even half as good as 2011. Fingers crossed as America is a big part.. :)

Eyes like a shutter, mind like a lens

Anyone who tells you that no one inspires them or they don't have a 'hero' is lying. Everyone has that one idol for which they want to aspire to be like or feel passionate enough about them to create/do/be something better with themselves. This can be a person, a photo, a light, a shape, a smile, a flower - ANYTHING.
Whilst studying photography itself, I have many people who I feel inspired by which causes a mind map of ideas bouncing around in my head which I can then do. It's no copying, it's taking their idea and putting it to one of your own.
Last year I was lucky enough to have spent a weekend in the middle of London so took a few hundreds snaps here and there!

Although the majority of my photos are in fact of landscapes of suburbia and grimey streets, I do want to enter the world of portraits. Here's some of my most recent inspirational photography photos which I've fell in love with and hope to achieve similar work by the end of the summer once being in America and having more opportunities.

London Fashion Week

LFW is a very popular week, which is held in London in February each year. These weeks are held in fashion obsessed capitals including London, New York and Milan which show the most popular designers, right down to ones who are just starting out. It would be amazing to be able to attend London's, because obviously it's the closest one near me, but my dream is to be one of the fashion photographers there, capturing the catwalk and celebrities in awe admiring the new collections for the following year's SS collections.
I was browsing on the website (www.londonfashionweek.co.uk) as I've always had a love for fashion and studied textiles for 7 years, it's always exciting to see new upcoming designers in the pipeline. Something called 'Estethica' caught my eye so I decided to research it more. Basically, what it is, is a chance for new designers who like to use fair trade and ethical manufacturing for their designs. Whilst studying textiles at A level we learnt that although using fair trade and organic materials are better for the environment and people, it is more expensive and take longer to make. This starts right down from growing the cotton in the fields of the hot climates of India and several other places, it is a harder and slower process without using pesticides although they are life threatening to the workers there.
But along with trying to be as organic and economical as they can, designers also use recycled fabrics to make their unique pieces.

The photo above is by designer Mei-Hui Liu from her SS 12  collection. Her label is called Victim Fashion Street and she is a Taiwan-born designer but now lives in London. She says her signature designs are 'I suppose it's what you'd call decadent romance cut with a very sharp edge and dose of haphazard embellishments' as she used quite a few 'grungey' looks topped off with union jack style prints and the royal colours. She also recycles all her materials and thinks of herself as very ethical.

It's nice to know that there are designers out there who actually care about the world and fair trading. Just because you use top of the range materials doesn't mean that your pieces are the best. I'm aware of the pros and cons of this but things are slowly changing :)

A rose between two thorns: Pop princess Rihanna sat between Kate Moss and a seductively placed hand from Stella McCartney.
